This commercial used ethos, because it mentions, his wife is a dentist, and she only lets her kids use Act mouthwash. By having a dentist mentioned in the commercial it makes people think they should let their kids use it, since she only lets her kids use Act. It also makes parents feel better, about what they give their kids to clean their mouths, when a dentist has their kids use it. Also near the end the commercial uses logos, because it shows the statistics, of fewer cavities. By adding the statistics that you will have 40% less cavities, makes people want to use Act, so they can get fewer cavities too. When people see this commercial, it will make them think of the mouthwash they let their kids use, and when they hear about how Act makes for better check ups, they might switch to Act. People might want to try Act and see if their kids check ups are better. Act Stronger teeth and better check ups in every bottle.
I think it could be persuasive but, they did not actually show the dentist, so you just have to trust his wife is dentist. Although they did show statistics about how it makes you have fewer cavities, which helps with making people want to use their product. It is logical because they say when you use this product, you get less cavities.
This commercial was made mainly for parents to watch, to make them want better for their kids teeth. When parents watch this, they will buy this product so their kids have healthier teeth. I think this commercial does a good job, at making the points they wanted to. Also at making people wanting to buy their mouthwash.
Rachel pointed out rhetoric in the commercial clearly. This commercial could be effective to people as long as they are waiting for their tvshow. I personally would not watch it, because it is so boring. Using logos and ethos were good, but they should have used pathos too.
ReplyDeleteShe is a dentist and she just lets her kids to use this mouth wash. It is credible. I would trust this commercial and buy this product
ReplyDeletei will not trust because this commercial try to persuade the audience but without a dentist who can buy and trust the product, i really like when you mention the fallasies good job
ReplyDeleteI like how you pointed out that the credible source is the dentist, not their spouse. And so because of this there isn't a legitimate credible source.
ReplyDeleteI like how you said where ethos and logos were used in this commercial to show your understanding of it. You also had a nice explanation and went into a lot of detail about the commercial to help us get the big picture. This was very informative, good job.
ReplyDeleteI saw the commercial, and you did great jod doing summery of the commercial. I like how you pointed the logic that are used for commercial, Ethos and Logos.
ReplyDeleteI definitely see how Ethos and Logos were used in this commercial. I also agree with your statement about how we have to take the husbands word for it that his wife is a dentist and that it would be better and more trustworthy if the dentist was actually shown in the commercial. Good job!
