Coke Mini

I recently saw a Coca-Cola commercial advertising mini Coke cans. The commercial stars two superheroes: Ant-Man and the Hulk. Ant-Man goes into Bruce Banner’s lab and steals his last mini coke. Bruce gets extremely angry, turning into the Hulk and chasing after him. The Hulk finally corners Ant-Man and Ant-Man returns the coke to him, helping him open the can in which the Hulk drinks it with pleasure. This commercial greatly uses Pathos. Pathos is the appeal to emotion through feelings. This commercial uses Pathos through the appearance of well-known superheroes from popular movies. This causes the audience to want to buy the product because they see characters that they love which influence their feelings, making them excited to purchase the mini cokes. I think this is definitely persuasive. The commercial is very fresh, new, and well put together, making me enjoy how the commercial looks but also enjoy the product I am seeing being advertised. The commercial also appeals to emotio...

How to Stay Calm When You Know You Will Be Stressed

I watched a TED Talk by a man named Daniel Levitin. He talked about a few ways to stay calm for when you know you will be stressed. He started off with a story about how he returned home one night at around midnight. It was freezing cold and he realized he had left his house keys inside on his kitchen table. Stressed and cold he had no other option than to break in. He took a rock, breaking his basement window and crawling in. He expressed how he had an early flight the next morning so when he was headed to the airport, he realized he forgot his passport. He drove back quickly to retrieve it, making it back just in time to board the plane. Even though his seat was given to someone else and he had to sit in the back of the plane on a seat that didn’t recline for eight hours, he began to think about stress and how it affects the body. He goes on to say that he is a neuroscientist and explains how our body releases something called cortisol which is the stress hormone. When this happen...

Alaina: Confidence in God

My Pastor on Sunday preached on confidence in God. He asked the question, "Do we really display full confidence in God?" He gave the passage Isaiah 8:9-9:7. The people mentioned in this chapter did not really trust in God. He talked about the Assyrians bringing fear upon everyone but God is the true light in that darkness. When we go through tough time, we tend to want to fix it ourselves so we forget that God has ultimate control over what happens. We have to realize that whatever happens is God's plan and if we focus on fixing it or controlling it on our own, then we are disrespecting God's sovereignty and will for our lives. We do not do it purposefully, its rather an instinct that we cannot shake, but when you give God ultimate control it gets easier. This is a great point and helps me understand how things will only get better if we display full confidence in God and His righteous plan. Our Pastor emphasized that Isaiah was saying to stop focusing on  the current...
