World of Tanks

The game known as World of Tanks is a World War II tank team based multiplayer game. The game recently has started accumulating various ads from all of its different versions that have a similar hype building formula. All of these ads for the most part provide no logical argument as to why the player should play World of Tanks over another tank game that focuses on WWII era tanks like War Thunder. Also since most of them have no real information or dialogue there is no way to establish ethos. In certain aspects the ads deceive you because in them you see tanks either taking twenty plus rounds which almost never happens in the game or they show a tank flying across the map destroying opponents with one shot left and right. So if anyone has ever played the game they know that the ads don’t tell the whole truth which as such diminishes their trust in the ads. So the only thing World of Tank ads do is build hype for the game. They are entirely built around pathos in that aspect. Most of th...

Military Robots and the Future of War

P.W. Singer in his Ted Talk discussed robotics in warfare and the repercussions that robotics could have on warfare and the perception of war. He presents his reasoning for what he says and it’s either based in history, like his point of there being no permanent first maneuver advantage or it being based in what is presently going on in the field of military robotics, like several projects handling aspects of fully autonomous weapon systems. He also keeps the audience interested with the occasional joke such as the a certain actor that was a governor showing up at your door. He is a military analyst and as such is an expert on how various things impact warfare. He speaks somewhat informally and uses hand gestures to highlight some of his important points. He makes heavy use of visual aids to really show that some of this stuff is real and currently in use. Overall he warns of the dangers that this leap in technology could bring, such as a decrease in the consequences of war. He also...

Jason: Turn the Other Cheek?

Amy Banka’s sermon titled "Turn the Other Cheek? Really, Jesus?" was outstanding. She took the Matthew 5:38-42 and brought pack to its original cultural implications. Which ended up being don’t fight back but passively resist. The verses in that were culture references that would either force the person to indirectly acknowledge them as an equal or get them in trouble. The prior was the acknowledge you as an equal. In Hebrew culture to slap someone with the back of ones hand was to make them lesser than you, while slapping with the palm of the hand was to acknowledge them as an equal. She spoke with passion and enthusiasm. So much so that one couldn’t help but listen to what she had to say. She genuinely cares about people understanding her message for their own growth and benefit. She also shows what the verses meant in their original cultural context such as “If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.”. During that time in history a Roman soldier could onl...
