I was looking for an article on The Korea Times and I saw an interesting headline. The headline of the article is “Exercise reduces the risk of ‘13’ cancers.” The article has a big picture on top. The picture is a woman working out in a gym. The article starts with a sentence that says ”According to the National Cancer Institute, NCI, Stephen doctor’s research, exercise reduces the risk of 13 cancer.” We can see this article is using rhetoric, ethos. This means the article is trying to give credibility to the people who are reading this article. According to this article, NCI collected the research data of 1,400,000 people, their exercise habit, and the risk of 26 cancers. The result was amazing. The people who are exercising have a 20% lower chance of getting cancers than the people who are not exercising. I watched a speech about feminism. Emma Watson, British actor and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, co-hosted a special event for UN Women’s HeForShe campaign. The HeForShe campaign is a solidarity movement for gender equality which calls upon men and boys to help end the persisting inequalities faced by women and girls globally. Emma is saying ‘I am reaching out to you because we need your help.’ This sentence makes people curious about the speech. She said ‘We just don’t want to talk about it. We want to try and make sure that is tangible.’ When I heard that sentence, I felt there is a problem that has to be changed. Feminism is one of the most important issues today. I watched a sermon on YouTube. A Korean minister preached a fiery sermon about faith. The guy in the video talks about faith for receiving. He asked a lady “Do you have faith for money?” and she said yes. And then, he said there is no money around us. Nobody see money. Faith says, or tells us that you have it before it appears. Faith says I have it because the Word of God says, or tells us it’s mine. The minister was able to get attention by asking a question to the lady. Also, he could make audience want to listen. He said “In my spirit, through the eyes of faith, I could see money was mine and it is same with any promise in the Word of God. If we put faith in the Word of God, God is going to make it happen. Faith is receiving the promises from God. God wants us to trust him to the point of actually receiving things from His word before we see them. I saw a commercial on Youtube. The commercial is about The Netflix Watch. It started with a watch with a big screen. The watch looks like a big iPhone. The narrator was saying, “Have you ever wonder what total freedom looks like? Meet the Netflix Watch” and I started to wonder what the commercial was trying to persuade me to do. There are two guys who are wearing the Netflix Watch shaking hands with each other. Also, they both look satisfied with their Netflix Watch. The narrator was saying, “Which mean you maybe tap into watch where ever you were.” The narrator emphasized the sentence “where ever you were” and it shows a guy who is watching a TV show on his Netflix Watch in his car.
