The advertisement used a lot of techniques to convince the viewers. First, it showed many muscular men using the product to make people think that Shake Weight can turn them as manly as the guys in the commercial. It also showed graphs, simulations, interviews, and comparisons with other products to prove Shake Weight’s leading-edge technology and its differentiation with pre-existing products. The use of words “guaranteed,” “faster” and the proofs shown were effective because everyone wants to see the result in a short time and they would feel relieved by the expert’s positive opinion about the product. But the commercial didn’t convince me because it is obviously not true that six minutes of Shake Weight work out can magically turn a person into a muscleman. I would buy the product if the men in the commercial prove that they had built their body solely by 6-minute Shake Weight workout.

I agree with you Julia, they need proof that it actually only takes six minutes, which I find very unlikely.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your posts! I wonder if there is a difference between the Shake Weight for women and men? I think you are right in saying that a controlled experiment should be conducted to see if it really is as effective as they say it is.

Dude, I'd buy this. Those guys are ripped, even if it takes longer than advertised
ReplyDeleteSeveral infomercial products are sold in a similar way. Fit people are seen using them and that draws those who want to be that fit in. Although this is irrational, it is quite effective.
