I was not know I need to write a blog about speeches in chapel until last Friday, I was terrified. Because there were too many people had speeches in chapel, and I can't remember one whole speech... Then I remembered Mr.Demko who had a good speech in chapel, and we have a great relationship (that's only what I think ) . The funny thing is a week before he gave us a speech, we talked about science and religion at chapel after listened a speech. So when he showed up in chapel and had a speech, and some points in his speech are pretty much similar with what we talked about, I was so surprised. So I asked Mr. Demko give me his outline of the speech, I am very appropriate. His topic is Biblical Authority. He was trying to tell us that biblical authoruty is our last line of defense as Christians.
As what he said in his speech, he wants us to believe that the presupposition that the Christian doctrine is necessary for any true meaning in life and our ultimate authority is our last line of defense as Christians. There is a part impressed me, he used logical way to persuade us. He said God used the apologist, he uses the creation scientist, but his word is not dependent on yours or my authorization, we are not the judge and jury over Gods word. Because next he said universe did not create the universe. Which means everything would have had to existed before it existed. To explain a simple absurd that why is not every physical thing did create every physical thing, he used his personal experience. In college, he was used to doing very academic work, and in this type research, you cite your sources. You show your authority. So people can check out your work, and check up on you. So Jesus doesn't offer us a single footnote in the bible, outside of himself. He doesn't appeal to anyone. And this is how Christ speaks isn't it. Mr. Demko uses this to prove that Jesus and Bible is the authority.
This is a great speech, but I think maybe he was nervous and the time was rushed, so he spoke kind of fast. I think he persuaded most people, because his logic is very clear, and he has many strong points.

Yes I was terrified too. I could not remember the whole speeches, so I watched on YouTube

ReplyDeleteThis is a good speech, it is easy to understand and accept his points. Logical and functional.
ReplyDeleteI remember this speech and personally was hard to follow, but I am glad you could and take in what he was trying to get.
