I was looking for an article on The Korea Times and I saw an interesting headline. The headline of the article is “Exercise reduces the risk of ‘13’ cancers.” The article has a big picture on top. The picture is a woman working out in a gym. The article starts with a sentence that says ”According to the National Cancer Institute, NCI, Stephen doctor’s research, exercise reduces the risk of 13 cancer.” We can see this article is using rhetoric, ethos. This means the article is trying to give credibility to the people who are reading this article. According to this article, NCI collected the research data of 1,400,000 people, their exercise habit, and the risk of 26 cancers. The result was amazing. The people who are exercising have a 20% lower chance of getting cancers than the people who are not exercising. After I read part of this article, I decided to exercise everyday because I want to be healthy. This article persuaded for me to exercise. The article also says about women. It says 31% of women does not exercise at all and it can cause uterine cervical cancer. The researcher recommends for women to exercise at least 30 minutes. This is because 30 minutes exercise can reduce the risk of getting cancer. This can be pathos because pathos is an appeal to emotion and the writer is convincing the readers by creating an emotional response.
I think this article has enough credible information to convince the readers because this article contains rhetoric skills. Which is Pathos and Ethos.

I think that this information also convinces me to exercise, especially since I am a girl.
ReplyDeleteI find this study to be amazing and helpful for people who are at risk.

This gives me much more incentive to exercise.
ReplyDeleteThis article is very informative and makes me want to exercise more. Now that I know that it can prevent certain cancers I am defiantly more likely to be more deliberate in my exercising schedule.
ReplyDeleteThis article makes me want to go exercise and I think that's partially the point. No one wants to get cancer and so I think this article includes somewhat of a fear factor in a sense that makes people rethink their lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteThe article definitely did its job on convincing people to exercise. It makes the reader scared of being sick which helps them in their persuading.
